Why a SOW beats a handshake

A statement of work exists to answer one question before it's asked: "is this done?" Acceptance criteria and a specific deliverables table are what stop a project from dragging on unpaid. Spell out what the client owes you — assets, access, approvals — and by when, so their delays don't become your problem. This tool mirrors the statement of work template; pair it with achange order for anything that lands out of scope, and seedeposits and payment schedules for structuring the money.
